Kristi Tuck Austin waded New York City sewers, ran from trains, and slid through a water pipe to the Harlem River while researching for her YA manuscript. She has celebrated Thanksgiving in the Paris catacombs, hiking, crawling, wading (again), and dining by candlelight. In her daily life, which is dry and aboveground, she works as an authors’ assistant, consultant, and media escort. She is a member of James River Writers and has served as board chair and conference chair. She and her husband, Adam, love Richmond’s art, independent bookstores, museums, food, and river.
